Carbon Monoxide Alarms detect carbon monoxide levels before they become dangerous. Mikes Handy Services will install the mid-range (sealed battery) Detector BS EN50291 permanently mounted To meet current installation standards BS EN 50292
Each Carbon Monoxide Alarm will be tested at the time of installation using the test button to confirm the battery and audible alarm are in working order. Tests carried out in 2011 by the HSE found only a 1% failure rate in alarms conforming to BS EN50291 that passed the initial audible and battery test. See document here

It is recommended that Carbon Monoxide Alarms are tested weekly/ fortnightly depending on manufacturer’s instructions. This is the responsibility of the tenant. However when there is a change of tennancy it is the Landlords responsibility to test the alarms at this time.
